Hi everyone,
My name is Erik and my interest in aviation began when I was very young. I can't really remember when exactly, but I've loved aviation for as long as I can remember. I grew up all over the world, so I have been flying on commercial aircraft since I was a baby. I remember getting to look in the cockpits of 747's and tour aircraft on Navy ships. After I graduated from high school, I joined the Marine Corps and spent 12 years working in aviation ground support. I started to get tired of always watching everyone else fly, so I got out of the military and started flight school in Memphis, TN. I attended a college there and received my private, instrument, and commercial rotorcraft ratings. I decided to transfer to Eastern Michigan in the fall of 2014 and learn to fly fixed wing aircraft as well. I'm currently a senior and I graduate this semester with a BS in Aviation Flight Technology. Since starting at Eastern I have earned my private, instrument, commercial, multi-engine, and flight instructor ratings,
I'm currently a flight instructor at Eagle Flight Centre at Willow Run and American Aces in New Hudson. I plan on flight instructing until I graduate from EMU. Currently, my tentative plan is to move back to Memphis and accept a position as a first officer at a part 135 passenger operation early next year. I'm planning on applying to several regional airlines when I reach the ATP minimums and as of today, Endeavor is my first choice. I would like to end up at FedEx and retire from there. There is still a part of me that would enjoy doing some off the grid type flying, maybe somewhere like Alaska but I guess I'll just play it by ear and see where this career takes me.
